Stand Up For Your Rights will present in short plays key revolutionary moments from the Putney Debates about the nature of democracy, which took place during the English Civil War and the Chartists, the first independent working-class movement in Britain which set out to win the right to vote. There will be films, an exhibition, food and live music, plus the launch of a new book which shows how the capitalist state and democracy are incompatible and puts forward alternatives around the idea of people’s power. You are invited to be there and to help with the festival in any way that you can.
